As the CP didn’t have a dump point, we headed to Cooee Point which has a freecamp area as well as the dump point. As we were early, the site was about 75% full. It was mostly unlevel grass but a fantastic view.
The day was set aside for voting. Prepolling was available at Burnie and Ulverstone and Ulverstone was the choice for easier parking, and it was. After voting, we walked the town, visited a bakery, did a shop up at Coles and Woolies, all within walking distance of our Knaus House. Before we left, we went to the Hive. It is the information centre but includes multiple craft groups and their workshops.
We needed an easy solution for a one nighter. We rang the Apex Picnic Point CP at Ulverstone and luckily they had a vacancy. We loved the site and we loved the CP. For the same price as our previous 2 nights, it was like chalk and cheese. But there is more. After dusk, watching the light disappear, we were greeted by 3 penguins out on the grass and only a few feet away.
Ulverstone cracked the number 10 on all counts and will stay here again if we have the time.
